Adult Ballet Examination Program

Earn an Internationally Recognized Ballet Qualification

For adult dancers looking to deepen their training and work towards a meaningful goal, Principal Ballet Academy is proud to offer the RAD Adult Ballet Examination Program.

Designed specifically for dedicated adult students, this program follows the internationally recognized Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus and provides the opportunity to prepare for and complete an official RAD ballet examination.

Whether you're returning to ballet after many years or have been dancing consistently as an adult, the examination program offers a structured, rewarding journey that develops artistry, musicality, technique, and confidence.

Unlike regular recreational classes, the RAD Examination Program follows a carefully planned curriculum throughout the season, allowing students to progressively build the skills required for their examination in late spring or early summer.

2026 - 2027 LEVELS

Our inaugural Adult RAD Examination Program will begin with:

Intermediate FOUNDATION

For dancers with approximately 2-3 years of consistent ballet experience.

Placement is subject to teacher approval.

Intermediate

For dancers with approximately 3-5 years of consistent ballet experience, and 6-12 months of experience on pointe (female dancers) OR who have previously completed Intermediate Foundation. Placement is subject to teacher approval.

Additional levels will be introduced in future years as the program grows.

Program Structure

The RAD Examination Program runs from September through June, with examinations expected in late spring or early summer.

Because each class builds upon the previous week's work, consistent attendance is essential for successful exam preparation.

Students should plan to attend:

Two classes per week

Each class will run approximately 90–105 minutes, depending on the level.

This schedule provides sufficient training time to comfortably prepare for the examination while allowing adults to balance work and other commitments.

Commitment & Attendance

The RAD syllabus is cumulative, meaning new material is introduced and refined each week.

For this reason, students should be prepared to attend classes regularly throughout the season.

We understand that adult schedules can occasionally be unpredictable. Reasonable absences due to travel, illness, or work commitments are expected, and instructors will help students stay on track whenever possible.
