Originally from Germany, Julia brings a rich international background in classical ballet training and teaching.
She received her foundational ballet education in Germany before continuing her professional studies at Canada’s National Ballet School in Toronto. She later completed a BFA (Honours) with a double major in Dance and Psychology, deepening both her artistic understanding and her approach to holistic, student-focused instruction.
As a young dancer, Julia performed extensively with her pre-professional studio company, appearing in full-length classical productions such as Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Cinderella, and Études, as well as musical theatre favourites including Cats, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Fame, and The Phantom of the Opera.
Her technical background is rooted in the Vaganova method, complemented by strong experience in Cecchetti and RAD training systems through the National Ballet School’s Teacher Training Program.Julia served as the Teaching Assistant to the Ballet Director at Dancecenter in Augsburg, Germany - a pre-professional academy - before relocating to Toronto, where she has taught widely across the GTA for over 15 years. Her teaching is known for its clarity, precision, warmth, and anatomical awareness, blending her dance expertise with her psychology background to create a supportive and empowering environment for every student.
While Julia has trained dancers of all ages and levels, she has a special passion for teaching adults and guiding them through the elegance, strength, and expressive depth of the Vaganova syllabus.
Her mission as Director of Principal Ballet Academy is to offer thoughtful, high-quality ballet education rooted in artistry, technique, and well-being - welcoming every dancer into a space where they can grow with confidence and joy.
